As believers, we are called to make disciples, and that includes middle school and high school students! Youth ministry provides an avenue for students to be influenced by individuals beyond their immediate families. While parents are called to be the primary disciple-makers of their children, teenagers crave guidance and support from older people outside of their families.

We have the unique opportunity to connect with 6th-12th grade students, building relationships based on trust, authenticity, and faith in Jesus. In essence, youth ministry acts as a beacon of support, offering young people the guidance and encouragement they need to grow in their relationships with Jesus, each other, and His church.

The summer internship is for college students who are committed to serving God by ministering to the youth of Second Presbyterian Church in Memphis, TN. An applicant's attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus, who took the form of a servant (Philippians 2:4-8).

The position of a summer intern is NOT an elevated position, but one of service. We are looking for individuals who already demonstrate a lifestyle of growth and a commitment as a disciple of Jesus Christ in their: 

• Growing Commitment to God

• Growing Commitment to God's People

• Growing Commitment to God's Kingdom.

• This is a 10-week full time commitment!

• Paid internship

• Live with a host family

• You need to have access to a car for the summer!

• 2 days off weekly (Thursdays & Saturdays)

• A few days off around the 4th of July!

Decisions on applicants are based upon this completed application and two references. We reserve the right to terminate your position at any time for any unbiblical conduct, safety reasons, or leadership detrimental to the body of Christ.

• Sunday: Morning & Evening Worship; Youth Sunday School

• Monday: Youth Staff Meeting; Summer Serve

• Tuesday: 103 Degrees (Middle School Bible Study)

• Wednesday: True North Bible Study (High School Bible Study)

• Thursday: Off!

• Friday: Staff Prayer

• Saturday: Off!

Outside of programs, summer interns spend time building relationships with students around shared memories (meals, crafts, bowling, golf, pickleball, ice cream, exploring Memphis, etc.). They also spend a week with high schoolers on Beach Trip, a week with middle schoolers at the Edge, and a week serving alongside students on a mission trip!
